If rent is $3K/month, $600/month goes towards your down payment, if you chose to close a year later at the price you agree upon today.

The rent-to-own program allows for you to rent for a period of one year and have 20% of your monthly rent go towards your closing costs. If you elect not to convert the rental to a purchase, the 20% is non-refundable. It does require that it is your primary residence for the rent-to-own period. It also allows you to lock in today’s purchase price and try before you buy. We’re all hoping that interest rates will be more favorable soon.
